Some stories are written by fate; their story is one of them.

It all started on an ordinary Thursday evening, when Michael, back then a cosmetology student, walked into SalonCentric with bright green hair–an unexpected accident. He needed advice fast. As luck would have it, Derek was covering a shift he wouldn't normally work; this truly was a rare coincidence. Looking back, maybe it was more than that—maybe fate had a hand in bringing Michael and Derek together.

What began as a simple conversation about hair turned into an instant connection. They hit it off right away–laughing, swapping stories, and sharing moments that felt deeper than anything they had previously experienced. They quickly developed a friendship, and over time, that friendship evolved into something deeper. Neither of them could quite put it into words, but there was this undeniable sense that they were “meant to be.”

It took years for them to take the leap from friends to something more, but once they did, there was no turning back. The bond they shared continued to grow stronger. Their relationship still feels as fresh and exciting as it did on day one. It has become a partnership built on trust, shared dreams, and unwavering support.

This brings us to where we are now. During a trip to Puerto Rico, they had the same idea: to propose to the other. Neither of them knew the other had packed a ring, but somehow, they both had a feeling it was the perfect time. After an incredible morning spent swimming with sea turtles, Michael took the moment to propose on Condado Beach, with the ocean as a witness. After a romantic dinner overlooking the bay, Derek returned the gesture, kneeling beneath the stars and asking Michael to be his forever. Two proposals, one unforgettable day, and two “yeses” sealed their future.

Now, surrounded by friends and family, Michael and Derek are ready to celebrate the next chapter of this incredible journey–together.
